1–2% is the textbook range. The calculator computes position size from risk %, not the other way around — you pick how much you're willing to lose if stop hits, and size follows.
R = potential reward ÷ risk. 1:2 means target is twice the distance to stop. Quant convention: above 1:1.5 to start, above 1:2 for typical setups. The regime-aware gate on the AI desk uses 1.2 / 1.5 / 1.8 by ADX/ATR.
Computed as entry × (1 − 0.5/lev) for longs. HL maintenance margin is roughly 50% of initial, but funding + fees nibble at this — always verify on HL before sending the order.
